What file format are generated models in?

Models generated with Lychee Generator are provided in the .glb file format.

The .glb format (GL Transmission Format Binary) is a widely used 3D file type that stores geometry, materials, and textures in a single, compact binary file. It is compatible with most 3D viewing and editing tools, and can be easily imported into Lychee Slicer.

You can recognize your generated model by its filename ending in .glb, for example: my_generated_model.glb

Why GLB?

  • It keeps all model data in one file (geometry, color, and texture).
  • It’s lightweight and optimized for both preview and download.
  • It ensures broad compatibility across modern 3D software and platforms.

If you have trouble downloading or opening a .glb file, please contact us at contact@mango3d.io and include your account email and the generation date so we can assist.

Notes:

.GLB files are supported on Lychee Slicer starting from version 7.4.5. Make sure to update to this version to use it.

.STL or .OBJ will soon be available but if your slicer is not compatible with the .GLB format, here’s what to do:

  1. Convert the .GLB file to a format your slicer supports (for example, .STL or .OBJ).
  2. Import the converted file into your slicer as usual.

Tip: There are many free online tools and 3D software that can convert .GLB files quickly and easily.
